    I suggest you see a school counselor - they are they to help deal with the school life balance, and will know how to help you communicate with your professors about the problem. I think this order would work: 1. make appointment with counselor; 2. send email to professors that you are going to discuss your absences with the counselor and set up times to see them POST your counselor appointment. Then you should be on track to sort things out while still going through "official channels" and whatnot.
