i don't like to criticise, especially when some nice debade has ensued. but... the possible answers muddy the issue significantly. the qustion asks about 'values and particular conceptions of eithics'. yet the first two answers relate to 'ethics and moral truths'. i think that ethics are, by nature, enduring and universal. however, vales are transient and personal. morals fall somewhere in between. by mixing them all up in the questions and answers it's rather difficult to pick a response.

catalina, i'm not so sure about all those things springing from empathy. empathy makes me tired. when i'm tired i'm intolerant, uncompassionate, hopelessly unlovable and unloving, impatient and incompetent. the only thing that fixes tiredness is... chocolate! not that i voted for chocolate...

    doktor kafka,
i am concerned by the fact that you have requested a response prior to you next brushing your teeth yet have elected for comments to close in four weeks. if you only brush your teeth every 4 weeks, that is a greater problem than the method in which you brush them.
