"a doctrine that advocates equal rights for women" is one definition of feminism, but one of my favorite, less official definitions, is "the radical notion that women are people." I don't think the term "feminist" places barriers--not any more so than ignoring the fact that the system places barriers between women and their goals. Sure, I can want something and work for it, but if a system wants me to fail it may work equally hard to prevent me from getting it. It's the same with any group of people who've been historically oppressed; that's why I consider feminism one aspect of humanism (along with the fact that women ARE humans, but let's not split hairs ;))

Speaking of tea snobbery, I kind of wish peppermint and chamomile weren't lumped into the same category... chamomile's okay, but there's a pretty big difference! :) But yes, peppermint 70% of the time and Earl Grey 30% of the time, give or take certain situations (i.e. yarrow or cedar when I'm sick and don't have peppermint around, or Sleepytime when I'm restless, or good ol' English Breakfast just for funsies).

I don't really like Pringles, but the Old Dutch brand (I think they're only available in the midwestern US) dill pickle potato chips--which have been around for years, thankyouverymuch;)--aren't bad!

I don't think you need to act like an uptight asshole to decline alcohol. Do it as respectfully as you can, and if they pressure you just stick to your guns.

My grandmother was a "housewife" (in that she didn't work per se and stayed at home until most of her children were in or past high school), and she raised 14 children, was a rather well-known activist in the community, and got a Master's degree while in her late 50s/early 60s, which was all kind of a big deal because they were extremely poor. Not that that has much to do with anything, but she's made me have absolutely no disrespect for housewives in general.

I've performed in the play and am organizing its first production at my university. It's a great experience, and I don't think it's "militant" or man-bashing at all. We're raising money for a local domestic violence shelter, and V-Day's (www.vday.org) mission is to end violence against women and girls, not to say "if you're not with us, you're against us."

On the other hand, I understand that some people may not enjoy the play, and it does depend on the quality of performance, but not enjoying it doesn't make anyone a pig. Freedom of speech and opinion and whatnot. :)

I think Tesla Coil (futurehusband'slastname) would be the most awesomely-named daughter ever.
