Ive bought both Mac and PC and have been using both as well (where I work, there's only PC). I have countless complains concerning my PC, but none Mac. So yeah, it might be a bit pricey, but I see it as paying for more than a machine: I paid for reliability and satisfaction.

I really hope someone who says no will comment on why, because the reviews in the apple store aren't doing it for me.

I didn't see the dot in front of the Mac, so i answered wrong, sorry but please ignore one vote for yes until i figure out how to un-vote, I haven't paid for .Mac because it seemed expensive. I think most people are miss understanding the question like i have. You were talking about .Mac the internet package thing apple sells right?

No problem, I was glad to see the corrected version pop up in the answer-O-matic. I just noticed the comments seemed to be about something else.

Also, you might not get to many responses, because most people think it is overpriced and for that reason have not tried it, hopefully someone who has will come along and answer, when they do i'll be curios to see what they say.

Appleblossom, re: reviews in applestore - well they would be madly positive, wouldn't they?

tita, I am glad your Mac is working. That's why i bought mine too. But I am now on MacBook Pro 3, MBP1 was in April, changed for MBP2 in May, changed for MBP3 in June, who then went into Machospital this week, had macsurgery and came back with a new keyboard and topcase and something else (they couldn't decipher the original problem - it is alive and keeps switching on by itself and doesn't like to switch off easily). As to why I have kept up with this - I have a daddy, he loves Apple, I love my daddy, 'nuff said.

I haven't tried dotmac yet, but with all the hassles, I don't think I am about to in the near future either. Does it come with ProCare? Because in my experience, the Apple support at the end of the phone suck (comment corroborated by Apple store), and it is just simpler and more sensible to take the MBP into the store. Based on a whole lotta problems in the pipeline already, I need to fix all those before I contemplate signing up. (But I probably will when I start development work again)

solitaryascidian, depending on what you want the Mac for - if you want to use XP on your mac, you will get no support from either Mac or Microsoft. If you use Parallels (sp?) and it crashes, it invalidates the whole warranty. (Just because Apple sell it in their store does not equate to jack).

This doesn't really answer the question, sorry. The one person I know who has dotmac would recommend it, but then he is MD of Apple UK and Ireland!
