if you go for a tattoo, you better know what you want well in advance (i knew what my first one would be for like five years), otherwise in a few years you may be like "what in the..." and thats never good. if you dont know exactly what you want and where you want it, go with a piercing. those heal.
i know it. i had the images of all things i want before getting the first one, and this one now just needed to have the colors adjusted, bu the image was already chosen. the placement too. the only problem is a too conservative family. i thought mom was already used to the first one, after all these months i've had it. but she freaked out about it last night, so i guess she's not ready for one more... i'll get it eventually, but i'll give her a bit more time to breath.
Ok, unless tatoos are something you want to go all out on and get full sleeves back and whatnot, then a safe guide rule, is if the piece is small wait at least a year knowing where you want it, occaisionally drawing it on or a simpler version with a sharpie. Large pieces, three years. This has stopped my friends and I from getting some really stupid tattoos. And if your getting piercings, start in less painful hidden places, you do NOT want to find out your body is allergic to certain kinds of rings and bars after you put one somewhere really sensitive.
You shouldn't get a tatoo unless you've put a lot of thought and love into it. If you are trying to decide between a tat and a peircing you probably haven't wanted the tatoo bad enough, and thought about it for a long time like you should.
no, i did. maybe i asked it the wrong way. i meant what's better for now. i had decided already to get both at some point, and just wanted to decide what first. got the piercing, last saturday. the tattoo image will stay well guarded for some month yet, but it's there since i first saw it (and fell in love with it), a long time ago.
