dear internet,
The rise of the American concept of low-cost, or discount, airlines that took hold of the UK aviation industry in the 80's has increasingly challenged traditional airline carriers. Discount airlines offer a novel business model; lower fares on the basis of reducing the lower priority passenger services (or 'frills'), thereby lowering their operating costs compared to their competitors. Two of the most effective responses from traditional airline carriers has been to focus on business service customers and/or to start offering short flights with reduced add-on services; accompanied by suitably reduced fares.
Read the passage and decide whether the following statement is TRUE, FALSE or whether you CANNOT TELL. Decide on your answer based on the information given in the passage alone.
"Two alternative responses from traditional airlines have been to focus on business flights and to reduce the 'frills' offered."
