re: Specialism vs. The Rennaissance by anonymous questioner

dear internet, my hot water heater is busted, and I'm using the internet (but not the inter.net) to help me understand how to fix it. We've all heard about the "rennaissance man," the man like Leonardo Davinci who was capable of knowing and doing many things. However, life these days doesn't seem to reward the jack-of-all-trades, but instead those who specialize in their career. The downside of this is that fewer people are OK at doing many things. I suppose I'm one of those people. I'm not good with cars, mechanical things, nor common sense (usually). So where would you fall in a task like this?
