dear internet,

I'm planning on getting an apartment for the next school year with my current roommate. We get along great, have similar habits, and both need plenty of alone time so I've never felt suffocated by her presence in our small dorm.

My close friend needs to get an apartment for next year, too, and we briefly discussed it, but it was back when I was just hypothesizing. I love her to death, but can honestly only handle her in person in small doses--she tends to be loud and has a slight social disorder that makes her slow to catch on to other people's feelings.

I'm worried about just flat-out telling her I don't want to live with her, but I know I'll have to. Any thoughts on softening the blow?
