dear internet,

i'm in a 10-month relationship with my co-worker, who works in the same office (same room) as me. we're pretty happy together, and also pretty happy with our jobs. co-workers know about it and it's not a problem professionally.

but i have to admit that having to see him all day at work, hear his voice, see his constant inter-office messages as well as personal messages to me, AND date him after-hours is starting to really, really grate on my nerves. i need some breathing space!! what is the best sensible measure?

It would be a shame to break it if it works. So I'd suggest to separate pleasure from business as much as you can. You know you love each other, trust that for a couple of hours without referring to it. When you go to work, you are work colleagues. And when you go home you are a couple.

Dunno whether it helps much, but worth a try?

Do some more activities by yourself. Take a drive, walk, or just do something without him.

It'll clear your head, and you won't feel so kill-the-relationship-y

Spend some time by yourself occasionally. If you've moved beyond the period where you have to see your SO all the time, it's a sign that the relationship is moving to the next stage. Make sure you talk to him about it, don't make him feel that you're shutting him out. In the best of all worlds, he will actually be in the same place as you are and you can come to an agreement like, say, spending every Tuesday and Thursday apart.
Maybe you want to take a short holiday or a weekend break by yourself or with friends. It may work wonders for your relationship.
    Good luck!
