dear internet,

I love my apartment. It's in a great neighborhood (except for the cops), it's just the right size for me and my two cats, and it looks out at a dog part that is surprisingly fun to watch. But . . .

My best friend is looking for a new apartment and found a large two bedroom place which is across town that is only $50 a month more than I'm paying. She wants me to move in because it is two bedrooms so we'd be saving a lot of money.

The downsides: I'd be moving out of the art district and away from the river as well as putting my 1 male cat and 1 female kitten (who don't really get along) into a house with two other female cats. And I'd have to break my current lease.

The upsides: I'd be living with my best friend. I'd be saving money. I'd be right across from a nice big park. It has a balcony and a communal backyard so I could put my plants outside.

What should I do? Please comment!!

Stay! You love where you are, you have a lot of stuff to move and the initial cost might not make up for the savings. (15 votes)

Sadly, despite the wise words of the internet, I have a feeling she's going to guilt me into going.

Friends living together end up with unresolved issues...and that's bad.

do you do anything to add to the growth of the art district, or just enjoy the fact that you live in one? Because in my opinion, if you just live in it, & don't add to it's developement you are just spending way too much money. If you like the district you can always just go there to hang out you know. If your best friend is truely your best friend, all the cons should work out.

Well, my apartment saved me by not having a buy-out clause to my lease! Woo! And on top of that she found an apartment on her own which she likes a lot. It has a sun room, but is also in the art district and only about a block away.

As for my own situation Poisonedsoul, it's not expensive to live here (in fact it's less expensive to live here than other parts of this city 'cause it's so close to the "BAD" part of town) and I try to add to it, but sadly work has kept me away. Soon, soon I will conquer life and have freetime!
