hello, dear internet,
this is not necessarily gender specific, but as it happens, it's man & woman, (nothing else going on here):
woman has been exposed to a certain thing for some time, and is puzzled by it.
man comes along and figures out the underlying logic of the thing, it comes naturally (not because he's a bloke, because it's just what he's used to).
although completely unintentional, suddenly he is in some kind of control in someone else's environment.
man can explain his grasp of the thing, and hopefully not come across as patronising. however, there is a good chance of being just plain boring, or at least come across as sad ...
or he can smile (hopefully not in an arrogant way) and gently assist if the need arises, and keep to himself until asked. however, there is a fair chance of being perceived as smug, and that might grate...
which is less appealing to you? comments very welcome!
p.s. no, my caps key is not broken, I just had typing overload...
