dear internet,

Will my cat, who I just moved out of my parents house and into my apartment (a wonderful 6 hour drive away), forgive me when I go away for two nights to a memorial service?

. . . or will he try to smother me in my sleep when I return?

You may want to wear a full hazmat suit when you get home.

How recently did he move and how has he settled in? If he's still hiding under your bed and not talking to anyone (my one did that for weeks when I moved him), then you should probably make sure there's someone around to check in on him... Otherwise, he'll be tough. He'll keep on keepin' on.

He moved down here about a week ago and he has settled in quite well. He's very comfortable with my friends and kinda used to me being gone for work. One of my friends will be coming to see him every night because he needs medication, so he'll at least see someone while I'm not there.

kitty forgives. i have gone away for a year before (of course i had someone come to watch them!) and frequently go away for long weekends. the kitties are happy to see me upon my return and if they are a bit skeptical they get over it in a day or two.

Well I went, and he was so happy when I came back for about an hour or so and then he got vengeful and bit me, but I was expecting that. He was not so nice to my friend who came in to give him his medication. The first night he took it no problem, the second night he was a lil brat. Oh well, he's happy I'm home, I think.

Hmmm ... fiercenailbunny, I think he has a Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde mentality... like most cats ;)
