dear internet,

I live in an apartment and was awoken in the middle of the night by the sound of water. I thought it was the rain against the windowsil in the kitchen and got up to check on it only to discover that it was in fact the sink overflowing. So, my question is . . . do you have any good (or bad) stories of living and having something random and perhaps upsetting happen to you (like mysteriously overflowing sinks . . . no the tap wasn't running, it was coming from the drain, and yes my landlord sent a repair man promoptly).
