dear internet,

Let's imagine you were in a relationship with a great guy. You are totally compatible in every way and 3 years on you are still madly in love. Your beloved gets a job that will take him to another continent for the next 2 years. It's very important to his career that he takes this job, so after much agonizing and talking it over with you, he does (and you encourage him to do so). You cannot go with him. Travel is expensive, so you'll see each other infrequently in that time.

Is the relationship doomed?
