dear internet,
Due to monetary constraints, I have to decide if I want a job I've been offered before my interviews at other places are complete. Unfortunately, one of the interviews that I won't be able to go to is the job that I'm most interested in -- but it's also the most competitive. What do I do?

Uh, bollocks to that, that's mean. Hang on, did you say that you have to take the job anyway, cause if not, you are out of money? Well, then take it, put some money aside, and apply next time to the job you really want.
If you can eat from your friend's fridge for a couple of days, go for the job you really want. We all keep our fingers crossed, and you may well get it. Erm, not because we cross our fingers, but because you really want it, you would not go for it if you thought you could not do it, and if that employer pays any half decent HR staff, they'll sense your dedication!
And if you don't get it - something else will happen, chances are, something not too bad :0)
while what johnny said is true, i would say at least interview at one or two other places and see where you REALLY stand. if you get offers at all of them, chances are you are a good enough candidate to take the risk for the job you want. hold out a little longer to see if there are other offers... if there arent, well, that kind of makes your decision for you, no?
Ah, Yuri, if only the money problem was on my end -- that'd make it much easier. Unfortunately, it's that the employer's monetary source has a defined time window -- I'm a scientist, and the grant in question requires that someone be hired by the end of this month. Thanks for the support, though.
The interview is in three days. Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion!
