well i kicked around in the military for four years. im not (usually) nutty, but i do have a lot of discipline.
not saying you should join the military, but it is possible to learn to get things done without turning nutty. set your goals, talk to yourself, have someone help you out (like remind you to complete a goal), impose small punishments or consequences for your actions to remind yourself that sometimes a lack of discipline affects a greater scope than just something sitting on a desk for a long time...

its all about follow through and reinforcement.
and half the germans i know are somewhat nutty...
i think i'll just go with the german thing. it will make me feel accomplished without forcing me toward un-nuttiness through any procrustean measures.
