I voted $0 - I don't give gifts to my immediate family but I do give gifts to my nephews and godchildren. Probably $40-$60 each.

In my family we get Secret Santa gifts and exchange names, so I get one person a great gift, instead of mediocre gifts for 5 people.

I would spend more on immediate family but they often just want a few specific paperbacks or a movie. I tend to spend a lot more on friends, money or time (handmade items).

Parents & Grandma get ~$80 present
Brother, sister, and in-law(s) that I see for Christmas get $15-20 present
If I ever saw the nieces at Christmas, they'd get ~$10-15 present

last option, but not necessarily that monetary category. Just whatever it takes to get the perfect gift, be it 2c or $2,000, or more.

I agree with littlewolf. Also, handmade gifts don't necessarily need to be cheap, either (I estimate I'm spending about $15-20 on each scarf i knit, because I use high-quality wool).

I have four younger sibs. So I'm cheap. Since I live a distance away, though, for a couple of them I put the cash for their xmas and birthday together to get them a really good gift.

My extended family is immense. This year, I just bought books for all the kids. This was amazing fun. I love kids books.
