dear internet,

on principle, i don't like to dress up. i think its a way of encouraging materialism, and gets people to focus on how i look rather than who i am.

on the other hand, people like me better when i dress up, i have an easier time making first impressions, my collegues take me more seriously, as do my profs.

so what should be more important, the principle, or the practical consequences?
