dear internet,
my boyfriend invited me to his family home for christmas some months ago. Importantly, his family live across the country. I asked him about booking flights when I had cash back in October, and he said it was too soon to worry about it. Then he booked his flight solo when I didn't have the cash to buy flights too in November. He insists how much he wants me to come, how his mother is making me a stocking, etc. Finally I could afford to buy a 1-way flight yesterday. I was shocked by how expensive everything was, and how little choice was left. I went on-line today and there were substantially fewer flights (his parents live in a popular vacation spot) than yesterday, so I asked him to slap it on his credit card (he's not rich, but he has money), and I would pay him back half tonight, the other half when I get paid in 2 weeks.
And he was all hemming and hawing and suggesting I take a flight on New Years day at 6:30pm - his parents (not him!) could drive me to the airport at 5:30am. This after he insists how much he wants me to be there for New Years.
I feel like he wants me there but he wants his cash more. And fuck what it costs me - This trip is going to set me back more than a thousand dollars (I'm not rich), which is way more than what he paid for his tickets.
