Say you love pilates classes that are 60-90 mins, plus you want to get your cardio which is another 40 mins, plus while you're at the gym you might as well do weights which is another 20 mins.
Say you're a graduate student with a social life and 2 part-time jobs. Is spending 2+ hrs at the gym (in lieu of TV, but clearly not the internet) too much?
