re: Honesty Dilemma by anonymous questioner

dear internet,

Last year, I had a couple of abnormal smears and a colposcopy which showed that there were abnormal cells on my cervix. Last week, I had my 6-month repeat colposcopy, and the cells had returned to normal by themselves (without surgery of any kind). Yay! BUT such abnormalities are usually caused by HPV, which is sexually transmitted and can in some cases (i.e., with some strains) result in cervical cancer. I'm pretty sure, if I have it, that I caught it off my ex, who now has another girlfriend.

My question is, bearing in mind that it can be transmitted even if a condom is used and that the strain I have seems to be mild, should I tell my ex?
