dear internet,

So, the US has made it ok for detainees to be tortured, to not be able to examine evidence/witnesses against them, and to have no right of habeas corpus among other things. ex-Rep. Mark Foley has been having extremely inappropriate IM conversations with teenage Congressional pages for years, the Republican leadership knew about it and did nothing. Which brings me to...is the US finally, like all great empires before it, going down?

Yeah, the decadent phase can go on for some time yet. Maybe it's the end for democracy in the US, although I thought that happened once upon a time in Florida...

i wasnt allowed to vote, and that is probably for the best, since i have had friends (and almost myself) killed by some of these "detainees." i have also, in the past few months, watched the german govt pay another group of people to move into their country despite the objections of their citizens, two openly hostile nations declare nuclear intent, and beg to ask the question if the human race is the empire, not perhaps just the us. the problems are long outside the us. face it. we arent perfect, but really who is?
